The Hospices de Beaune

Beaune is situated 40km from Dijon and can be reached by motorway or by the Fine Burgundy Wine Tourist Road.

Nothing is better for visiting Beaune, Burgundy’s wine capital, than a walk through its picturesque narrow streets. Inside the ramparts, Beaune is all charm: historic private mansions, half-timbered buildings, leafy squares and gardens – the ideal place to linger!

In order to discover this exceptional historical site, Beaune gives you the possibility to visit its famous monuments and museums: the Basilique Notre-Dame, the Wine Museum, and of course the Hôtel-Dieu (the Hospices de Beaune), a window into a time when the power of the Dukes of Burgundy extended to Flanders and the Netherlands.

It is not possible to finish your stay without discovering the treasure that Beaune hides away under layers of cobblestone streets! Since the Middle Ages, Beaune has been at the center of the wine trade and culture, and in the 18th century, it naturally became the hub of international wine trade. Thus Beaune became the Capital City of Burgundy Wines, whose best ambassadors are the winemakers and wine merchants who will guide you through their cellars and a tasting of the best vintages.
